Description
Learn how to make a delicious Creamy Dijon Sauce that’ll make your meals pop and add that gourmet touch! And the best part? It’s so simple to make!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh herbs (see notes)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Combine cream and mustard: To a medium saucepan, add the heavy cream and both mustards. Stir together and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat for a couple minutes until combined and slightly thickened.
- Season: Reduce heat to low, stir through the fresh herbs and season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Serve: Drizzle over your dish! The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools down. If it seems too thick, just whisk in a bit of water.
Notes
- Fresh herb options: I like to use tarragon in this sauce to add that “French” flavor. Other herbs that work well are thyme, combination of thyme and parsley or a combination of chives and parsley.
- Make a pan sauce: If you’re already pan searing meat like chicken breast or pork tenderloin, make this sauce directly in the same pan afterwards while the meat rests (instead of in a separate saucepan). The little caramelized bits on the bottom of the pan add so much extra flavor to the sauce! It’s also less dishes!
- Ways to use this sauce: This Dijon Cream Sauce is delicious drizzled over chicken, pork, steak, salmon as well as other fish and seafood. Also great over baby potatoes, asparagus, green beans and roasted veggies.
