Description
Want to make fresh green juice but don’t have a juicer? No problem! Make this blender green juice! It’s super refreshing, loaded with feel-good ingredients and tastes great. Plus, it’s ready in just 10 minutes – so easy!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water or coconut water
- 3 cups chopped kale or baby spinach (or combination of both)
- ¼ cup fresh mint
- ½ cucumber, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 green apple, cored
- 1 cup chopped pineapple
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1 small piece fresh ginger, peeled (about a 1-inch piece)
- 1 cup ice cubes
Equipment Needed:
- High Powered Blender (I love Vitamix – this is the Vitamix model that I have used for many years)
- Nut Milk Bag (For straining out the pulp – I like these nut milk bags)
Instructions
- Place ingredients in blender: Add all the ingredients into the blender in the order listed.
- Blend the juice: Start the blender on low and slowly increase to high speed. Blend for 90 seconds or until completely smooth. If needed, use the tamper to push the ingredients into the blades to get things going.
- Strain the juice: Drink it straight from the blender as a whole food green juice if you want to retain the fiber or strain it through a nut milk bag over a bowl or large measuring cup for that classic green juice consistency (my personal favorite).
- Serve: Pour into glasses and enjoy right away or transfer to a mason jar and store it in the fridge for up to 2-3 days. The juice will separate as it sits (this is normal!) – just give it a good shake before enjoying.
Notes
- Ways To Strain The Juice: You could also use a fine mesh sieve but a nut milk bag is definitely the best way to strain out all the pulp for a classic juice consistency. I’ve tried a few different ones and these nut milk bags are my favorite – easy to squeeze, high quality and really durable.
- What’s the reason for the ice cubes? Blending for 90 seconds in a high-powered blender does an awesome job of breaking down the fibers for that smooth, juice-like consistency. But it can also heat the mixture up like a soup – the ice keeps everything nice and chilled.
- Can you freeze it? Absolutely! You can freeze green juice for up to 3 months. I like to pour it into large ice cube trays – my go-to is the Half Cup Souper Cubes Tray. To thaw, I just pop a couple of cubes into a mason jar and let them defrost in the fridge overnight. Give it a good shake before drinking, and you’re all set!
