Description
Looking for a fun yet simple Halloween pasta dinner idea? This easy Halloween spaghetti topped with creamy burrata ghosts is spooky, cute and totally delicious!
Ingredients
- spaghetti (quantity depends on number of people)
- tomato sauce, marinara or pesto (choose one, can be homemade or jarred)
- burrata (one small burrata ball per person), see notes
- black olives, sliced or pitted
Instructions
- Cook spaghetti: Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Make the amount needed for the number of people you are serving.
- Toss cooked spaghetti with sauce: Drain the spaghetti, toss with the sauce of your choice and plate it.
- Top with burrata: To each plate, add a small ball of burrata cheese on top of the spaghetti.
- Cut burrata open and make ghost shape: Gently slice open the bottom of the burrata, scoop out some of the rich creamy center and spread it out to form the shape of a ghost’s tail. This does not need to be perfect so don’t fuss with it too much!
- Make the face from black olives: Cut small circles from the ends of black olives for the eyes and use a sliced olive for the mouth. I found that a straw works perfectly to punch out small eye shapes from the end pieces of the black olives. Place the olive pieces on your burrata to complete your cute little ghost. Your Halloween spaghetti is now ready to serve!
Notes
- Measurements are not provided for the spaghetti and sauce since you could easily make this for 1 or 10 people. Simply adjust quantity depending on how many people you are feeding.
- Burrata: Take the burrata out of the fridge before you start since it tastes best when it has a chance to come to room temperature. Make sure to drain off the liquid that the burrata is stored in and pat it dry. I like to use the small balls of burrata so that each person gets their own burrata ghost plated up individually. The burrata I used was a 125 gram ball (4-5 ounces). The smaller burrata can either be found individually packaged or 2 in a package like this one where the label says it contains 2-4oz balls. If you can only find the larger 8 ounce/227 gram burrata ball, simply serve the pasta family style on a platter with a larger ghost on top (or multiples depending on how many people you are serving).
- Prep the olive pieces: While the spaghetti cooks, cut and set aside the olive pieces for the face so that the pasta can quickly be assembled and served later.
- Olives Substitute: Swap out for another dark ingredient to make the face. You could use bacon bits, black beans, capers or draw on the face with a balsamic glaze.
- Make a family style platter: Serve it up on a large platter instead of individually plated. You could top it with multiple small burrata ghosts or purchase a larger ball of burrata for one big ghost in the center.
