Looking for a super refreshing and delicious drink to enjoy this summer? Then you need to try this Strawberry Mojito Mocktail recipe! It’s the perfect blend of sweet strawberries, zesty lime, fresh mint and a fizzy splash of soda water. Includes both a muddled version and blender version to try.
4 Reasons To Love This Mocktail
- Perfect for hot summer days: This is a spritzer style drink that is not overly sweet which makes it super refreshing and hydrating on those hot days. You might also like some of these other refreshing summer mocktails.
- Easy to make: This mocktail comes together quickly regardless of which method you choose.
- Great for entertaining: A fantastic non-alcoholic option for parties and gatherings that everyone can enjoy. It’s also super easy to transform into a cocktail for those who would prefer that option.
- Easy to scale: Make a single drink or a full pitcher if serving a group. The recipe card at the bottom includes instructions for both.
Ingredient Notes
What’s in a mojito drink? Well a classic mojito is made from five ingredients: white rum, sugar, fresh lime, mint leaves and soda water. However, this twist on the classic Cuban cocktail makes a few changes to transform it into a refreshing strawberry mocktail. This recipe eliminates the rum, adds in some juicy strawberries and is lightly sweetened with honey.
Detailed ingredient list and directions located in the recipe card below.
Equipment Needed
- A tall glass: Preferably you want to use a taller glass like a Collins glass or highball glass. However, I have also used everything from a stemless wine glass to a mason jar before (so use what you have!).
- Muddler (or something to muddle with): For the muddled version, you will need a muddler. Don’t have one? You can also the handle of a sturdy wooden spoon, the end of a thinner wooden rolling pin or the tamper that comes with some blenders like Vitamix.
- Blender: For the blender version, you will obviously need a blender! A high powered blender will ensure a smooth consistency. I use this Vitamix blender.
How To Make A Strawberry Mojito Mocktail
I’ll show you two versions – a muddled version and a blender version (full details in the recipe card below). Try both and pick your favorite!
Muddled Version
This version follows a more traditional method for making a mojito. The muddling releases the flavors of the strawberries, lime and mint while still providing some texture and visual interest in the glass.
- Muddle strawberries and lime wedges: Add sliced or quartered strawberries, lime wedges and honey to a tall cocktail glass. Muddle until the strawberries and lime wedges break down.
- Muddle the mint: Add the mint leaves and lightly muddle just a few times.
- Add the soda water: Add a handful of ice cubes. Give it a stir to combine. Top with chilled soda water or sparkling water. Gently stir again.
- Garnish and serve: Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint, extra lime and strawberries if you like. For easy sipping, also add a straw. Enjoy!
TIP: DO NOT over muddle the mint! This is why I add it after the strawberries and lime have already been muddled. Once the mint is added, just a few taps with the muddler is all it takes to gently bruise it to help release the fragrant oils.
entertaining tip
Making A Pitcher
This virgin strawberry mojito is perfect for summer entertaining! You can either line up a number of glasses and quickly make them individually or put together a pitcher!
To make a pitcher of strawberry mojito mocktails: Muddle the sliced or quartered strawberries, lime wedges and honey directly in a pitcher. Add the mint leaves and lightly muddle again (just a few taps). Add ice cubes to the pitcher and pour in the soda water or sparkling water. Serve in glasses filled with ice, and garnish with extra mint, lime and strawberries if you like.
Measurements for a pitcher that serves 8 can be found in the recipe card notes below.
Blender Version
This version consists of a blended mixture of strawberries, mint leaves, lime juice, coconut water and honey which is served over ice and topped off with soda water. This method makes two drinks instead of one since it is difficult to blend a small amount of the mixture.
- Add ingredients to blender: Place coconut water, strawberries, mint leaves, fresh lime juice and honey in the blender.
- Blend: Blend on high until smooth.
- Pour over ice: Fill two tall glasses with ice cubes. Pour the blended mixture into the glasses, divided evenly.
- Top with soda water and garnish: Top with soda water (about a 1/2 cup per glass). Garnish glasses if you like with strawberries, mint and lime. Pop in a reusable straw for easy sipping and enjoy!
Variations
- Switch up the berries: Swap the strawberries for blueberries or raspberries (or perhaps a mix).
- Adjust sweetness: This recipe is not too sweet. If your strawberries are not very sweet or you just prefer a sweeter mocktail, simply increase the amount of honey.
- Make it smooth: I quite enjoy the little chunks of strawberry from muddling. However, if you prefer a smoother drink, simply muddle/prepare the drink in a cocktail shaker and strain into your glass. The blended version is also a smooth option.
- Use flavored soda water or sparkling water: A lime or strawberry flavored one would be great in this.
- Make it a cocktail: Turn this mocktail into a cocktail by simply adding some white rum (vodka or gin would also be good). Or make it a wine spritzer by adding some white wine or rosé.
FAQ
The difference between the two is alcohol. A cocktail is a mixed drink that contains alcohol whereas a mocktail is a non-alcoholic drink. In this case, a strawberry mojito would typically contain white rum while this mocktail version eliminates it.
If you can’t get your hands on fresh strawberries, you can also use frozen strawberries that have been fully thawed first.
Absolutely! Swap the strawberries for blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, pineapple, watermelon or mango (like in this Mango Mojito recipe – just leave out the white rum for a mocktail version).

I blended up some of these strawberry mojito mocktails when the temperature was reaching 39C this past week. They were very refreshing and delicious.
That’s hot! Glad these helped to keep you cool!
Adding coconut water to this refreshing strawberry drink is adding more flavour to it. I am definitely going to love it. Thanks for sharing.
It’s finally going to get above 20 C here this weekend and I am READY for it! Whipping up a batch of this amazing mocktail and using a bit of garden mint to do it.
Fresh mint from the garden is THE BEST in a mojito!
I love this bubbly, healthy drink! It is so festive and refreshing! Perfect by the pool on a hot summer day! Yum!
What a wonderful and refreshing treat…sans alcohol! Perfect for long afternoons on the patio.
Totally perfect for those lazy hot summer afternoons! Enjoy!
I love using coconut water too! I am not sure why I haven’t made a mocktail. I need to start making something fancier than smoothies.
Mocktails are a fun way to have a “fancy” drink without the alcohol.
This sounds so great! I don’t drink much alcohol and I get tired of only drinking water. So nice for a change!
I drink a ton of water too but it is so nice to have some special drinks in the summer that are still light and refreshing.
Yum! Delicious, refreshing and not too sweet. I love this and so does my daughter!
